The Port of Pathein is a river port in the Irrawaddy Delta known as the rice bowl of Myanmar for many years. Since the olden days, Pathein port has been an International cargo port especially rice export center in Myanmar.
Although cruise vessels are not attractive to call Pathein Port due to port restriction and limited port infrastructure at present, general cargo and coastal liner use to call Pathein. Under Myanmar Port Authority, agency services are the vessels calling at the port to anchor, berthing or mooring at the jetties, buoys and anchorages. Measuring and defining the routes, placing the buoys and making the route so that the vessels can enter and exit from the mouth of the river to the port.
The water depth of the Pathein port is 4.5 meters to 7 meters at Pimmawady Port. So, lading cargo can be adjustable there. There is a potential port destination for small-size cruise vessels in near future.
Myanmar Voyages had operated MV Michaela Rose Luxury Cruise to Sittwe, Ngapali Beach, Ngwe Saung Beach and Pathein as the cruise first call in this region.
