Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State in Myanmar, lying on the Bay of Bengal. Situated at the mouth of the Kaladan River.
Sittwe Port is a deep-sea port constructed and financed by India in 2016 as a part of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, a collaboration between India and Myanmar. The project is aimed at developing transport infrastructure in southwestern Myanmar and northeastern India. The entrance and exit route of Sittwe port start at the pilot station, Latitude 20 degree, 01.5 minutes and Longitude 92 degree, 54 minutes. As there is an outer bar with the water depth of 13 feet at the outer anchorage, Latitude 20 degree, 07 minutes, and Longitude 92 degree, 55 minutes from that route to the mouth of the Kelantan River, the vessels have to enter from the east corner of that bay. The vessels of 22 feet draft possible to enter from that route refer to Myanmar Port Authority’s regulation.
Since Sittwe is a strategically geopolitical location, there are multi opportunities to link between the East and west economic corridor in near future. Mrauk Oo, a famous Tourist’s destination, over 500 years Ancient the Rakhine Kingdom located north of Sittwe, it is easy to access by local boat and road.
