Situated in Bagan, Myanmar, Kyauk Gu Umin is an extraordinary temple constructed using high-quality, greenish, and robust sandstone. This remarkable temple consists of three levels, with the upper two levels being added at a later time. The ground floor impressively reaches a height of 40 feet, while the north-facing facade extends 52 feet in length. One striking feature of the temple is the elaborate relief carvings adorning the entrance, which stands at a height of 12 feet. These carvings depict stone ogres wearing loop earrings, dangling elephants, and nymphs dressed in delicate robes, adding to the temple’s sense of mystery and allure.

The tour culminates with a visit to Kyauk Gu U Min, an exquisite temple built into the side of a cliff on the eastern side of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Drive to the jetty and board in a private wooden local boat to sail upriver to the remote temple of Kyauk Gu U Min.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore the intricate stone carvings and learn about the ancient legend behind this cave. The cave is believed to have been built for the locals to hide from invading Mongols.
