Travel Itinerary
Your friendly guide will meet and greet you at the hotel at 08:30 AM for an exciting day trip to Kalaw, a stunning hill station in Shan State. Kalaw boasts numerous colonial buildings that were once a retreat for British colonists seeking respite from the hot weather.
The day begins with a visit to the local market before heading to the impressive Bamboo Buddha statue. After that, take a leisurely stroll around the city to appreciate its colonial architecture.
In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Kalaw station to catch a train to Shwe Nyaung (approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes). During the journey, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Shan hills, including crossing the Bawathan Thayar Bridge over a gorge. Providing a scenic and captivating alternate route to Southern Shan State, the 86-year-old bridge offers a remarkable view of both the Shwe Nyaung gorge and the Taunggyi mountain range from its tracks.
Upon arrival at Shwe Nyaung, we’ll drive you to Nyaung Shwe, which serves as a jetty to the lake. Finally, transfer back to your hotel at the end of the day.
