Day 01: Yangon – Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo)
After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a scenic 5-hour drive to Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo) through rubber and teak plantations. You’ll need to take a local truck halfway up the climb to reach the top, where a gold leaf-covered boulder clings to the edge of a cliff, believed to hold a relic of Lord Buddha. As evening approaches, you’ll witness a stunning sunset over the misty mountain range from the Pagoda platform, where hundreds of devotees offer flowers, oil lamps, bells, and water to the sacred pagoda. You’ll then transfer to the hotel to stay overnight.Overnight
Day 02: Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo) – Hpa-An (B)
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Hpa-An, the capital of the Kayin state. Along the way, visit Ya The Pyan Cave, which houses many Buddha statues in various positions, and the Kaw Goon Cave, which features amazing Buddhist carvings and stucco work from the 17th century.
Take a photo stop at Mt. Zwegabin and Lumpani Park, which is home to several hundred neatly aligned, seated Buddha images, and Kyauk Kalat, a pagoda built on natural rock formations. After breakfast, drive back to Yangon from Hpa-An, passing through rice paddies, local farms, and coconut plantations.
