Experience a captivating tour of Thanlyin, located on the opposite side of the Bago River from Yangon, and gain a true insight into the everyday lives of the local townspeople. As you wander through downtown, you’ll witness the historic colonial port of Syriam, which once thrived under British rule but was later overshadowed by Yangon in the late 18th century. Explore the vibrant produce and flower market, where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with the friendly locals. Then, hop aboard a horse-drawn cart and make your way to Bon Pyan Monastery, a stunning teak structure over a century old. Embrace the picturesque scenery before embarking on a trishaw ride to a nearby village, showcasing an entirely different atmosphere. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions of Thanlyin.
Upon arrival, a brief orientation will be provided, followed by the opportunity to experience the local lifestyle by riding in a traditional horse cart, typically used by merchants for transporting goods in and out of the market. Following this enjoyable ride, soak up the breathtaking panoramic views of the Bago River and Yangon’s skyline before heading towards Kyauk Tan, where you’ll visit the enchanting Kyaik Hmaw Wun Island Pagoda via boat. This temple, situated on a tiny island in the middle of the Bago River, offers a truly unique and awe-inspiring experience.
The tour then proceeds to a nearby village near Padagyi Pagoda, where you’ll witness firsthand the daily routines and lifestyles of the local villagers.

Note: You must be appropriately attired, with your shoulders and knees covered, before you are allowed to access this holy site. To enter any Buddhist temple in Myanmar, you must also take off your shoes and socks.
