5 Days - 4 Nights

Tour Overview

Experience the charm of an unexplored seaport, a land of pearls, and the planet’s most unspoilt islands on this unforgettable tour. Discover how the locals use the city and sea resources by exploring their traditional businesses. Meet the Moken, the last semi-nomadic “Sea Gypsies” who live in the archipelago, and learn about their incredible free diving skills and unique nomadic lifestyle. Unwind on uninhabited islands, immerse yourself in crystal clear waters while snorkeling, and let the rhythmic waves of the sea lull you into relaxation over the coming days.

Travel itinerary

  • Day 1: Yangon – Myeik Arrival

Your morning begins with a warm welcome from your English-speaking guide, followed by a transfer to the domestic airport for a scheduled flight to Myeik (approximately 2 hours). Myeik is a historic fishing town in Myanmar, known for its fascinating past and locally produced goods such as pearls, rubber, and edible bird’s nests. Upon arrival at Myeik Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can spend the remainder of the day at your leisure, relaxing or exploring the city. In the evening, venture out to discover the local culture and cuisine or unwind at your hotel. You will spend the night in Myeik, ready for the adventures to come.

  • Day 2: Myeik Surrounding (Breakfast/Lunch )

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a guided city tour of Myeik. As one of the first cities settled by the English after the first of the three Anglo-Burmese wars, Myeik boasts beautiful colonial buildings that have stood the test of time.

Your first stop is a ship dockyard, where you’ll witness the locals building wooden boats as they have for generations. Next, you’ll visit a soft shell crab farm, one of Myeik’s main export products, and learn how the crabs are harvested. Then, explore the local snack market, where you’ll discover a mix of Burmese, Thai, Malaysian, and Indian cuisine. Myeik’s rich and varied cuisine is sure to delight any foodie traveler.

Your tour continues with a visit to the dry fish area, a place that has not changed for decades. Here, you’ll learn about the process of preserving fish in the sun for later consumption. The pearl industry is the next highlight, and you’ll visit a Pearl Trading Shop run by the same family for over a hundred years. Learn about the difficulties of pearl cultivation in the crystal clear waters of outer Myeik.

Before sunset, take a leisurely stroll along Myeik’s office street through the colonial quarter, where you’ll see fine examples of historical architecture. Enjoy the sunset and mingle with the locals at Thein Daw Gyi Pagoda, a pagoda built in the 18th century and one of the main tourist attractions in Myeik. Transfer back to the hotel and spend the night in Myeik, ready for tomorrow’s adventures.

Note: Please note that this excursion is based on a group tour, not a private one.

  • Day 3: Myeik – Dome Waterfall – Moken Village – Smart Island (Breakfast/Lunch)

Start your day with a healthy breakfast at the hotel before embarking on an exciting adventure to meet the “sea-gypsies,” an ethnic minority group who lead a traditional, semi-nomadic lifestyle that includes diving for sea cucumbers, fishing, and bartering.

Meet at the hotel and transfer to the jetty for a 1.5-hour boat trip to Dome Waterfall, which cascades down from high above right into the ocean. Marvel at the beauty of the waterfall, but please be careful when walking on the slippery rocks.

Next, visit Dome Nyaung Mai (Moken Village) and meet the Moken people, also known as sea gypsies, who have incredible freediving skills and a nomadic lifestyle. For centuries, they have roamed around the tropical islands by the Kabang (an indigenous boat) and lived as hunters and gatherers. Enjoy an unforgettable local lunch with the famous local “Sea Gipsy.”

After lunch, cruise to Smart Island, one of the most beautiful and unspoiled islands in the archipelago, and enjoy snorkeling, swimming, relaxing, and playing soccer on the three white sandy beaches. One of the beaches here is unique to this archipelago as it is made of pebble stones, making for picture-perfect landscapes and great for snorkeling in crystal clear water. In the evening, return to Myeik City by speed boat and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Note: Please note that this excursion is based on a group tour, not a private one.

    Overnight
  • Day 4: Myeik – Fish Farm – Thamee Hla Island – Marcus Island – Princess Island (Breakfast/Lunch )

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you’ll be transferred to the jetty for another exciting day excursion in the Mergui Archipelago. The first stop of the day will be at a grouper fish farm where you can learn about the traditional method of using floating nets and cages to farm these fish. It’s a nice opportunity to witness the local way of life on the way to Tha Mee Hla Island.

From there, you’ll depart for Tha Mee Hla Island, which takes approximately 40 minutes. This island has a small waterfall and a charming little beach with white sand, offering fantastic snorkeling and relaxation. You won’t find any restaurants or bars on this island, just pure nature. Next, you’ll head to Prince Island, known for its diving and snorkeling spots, where you can gaze at the rising sun and listen to the rhythmic waves of the water, evoking a sense of freedom. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch surrounded by peaceful nature.

In the afternoon, you’ll have some leisure time at Marcus Island until the evening. This small yet enchanting island boasts one long white-sanded beach and is one of the most appreciated islands of the archipelago, offering exciting activities and relaxation. After an eventful day, you’ll return back to Myeik and be transferred to your hotel. Overnight at Myeik.

Note: Please note that this excursion is based on a group tour, not a private one.

    Overnight
  • Day 5: Myeik Departure – Yangon (Breakfast)

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, unwind and enjoy yourself before transferring to the airport for the return flight to Yangon. Finish your island getaway vacations with enduring memories.
