Travel Itinerary
The day’s itinerary begins with a one-hour drive to the southern region of Mandalay, specifically to Kyauk Se, renowned for its famous elephant dance festival. The primary attraction in Kyauk Se is the Shinpin Tamoke Shwegu Temple, built by King Anawratha in the 11th century. The temple houses an intriguing small museum and remarkable engravings that date back to the same period.
Post-lunch, you will visit the local market to get an insight into local trade practices before moving on to Paleik, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from Kyaukse. Paleik is known for its snake temple, where a statue of Buddha is encircled by snakes, believed to bring good fortune.
Paleik, established in the 14th century, is home to 300 ivory-colored temples that draw a significant amount of attention. After a brief walk through the magnificent buildings, you will visit the village and the Buddhist monastery.
Finally, drive back to Mandalay and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.
