Travel itinerary

  • Day 01: Yangon Arrival

    Upon arrival, the guide will pick you at the airport and accompany you throughout the trip. After a long journey, head to the hotel for check-in and get some well-deserved rest.

    Start with a captivating colonial walking tour of Yangon to encounter a blend of colonial buildings, churches, mosques, and a Buddhist monastery. These stunning architectural wonders reflect the diverse religious tapestry of the city.

    Your next stop is the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, home to an awe-inspiring reclining Buddha image. We’ll also visit the Karaweik Royal Barge, a magnificent floating barge on a serene lake, offering fantastic photo opportunities.

    Prepare to be enchanted as you admire the Shwedagon Pagoda, the largest pagoda in the world, perched atop a hill and steeped in over 2,600 years of history. This iconic site, often referred to as the “heart of Myanmar,” is a significant pilgrimage destination in Buddhist culture. As the sun begins to set, join the mesmerizing candlelight ceremony, an experience that will leave you spellbound.

  • Day 02: Yangon – Mandalay (B)

    After breakfast, transfer you to Yangon Airport for your flight to Mandalay (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes).

    Upon arrival, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to Amarapura, a former Royal Capital. Your first stop is the remarkable U Bein Bridge, an impressive teak wood bridge stretching 1.2 kilometers in length, built back in 1782. Stroll along this architectural marvel and soak in its timeless beauty.

    Next, visit the renowned Mahagandayon Monastery, home to over a thousand monks who live and study there. If the timing is right, you can also witness the monks silently partaking in their last meal of the day. You will also drop by at a traditional hand-woven silk workshop, where you can witness the artistry behind this ancient craft.

    Continuing your journey, head to Mandalay city and transfer you to the hotel to rest and freshen up. Later, explore the Shwenandaw Monastery, renowned for its exquisite wooden carvings, and visit the last remnants of the Mandalay Royal Palace, a testament to the city’s regal past.

    Your final stop for the day is the Kuthodaw (MahaLawkamarazein Pagoda), renowned as the world’s largest book, composed of numerous stone slabs inscribed with the entire Buddhist Literature.

  • Day 03: Mandalay – Mingun – Mandalay (B)

    After breakfast, start the day with a breathtaking view of Mandalay from atop Mandalay Hill, providing a panoramic overview of the city. We’ll then visit the Mahamuni Pagoda, home to one of Myanmar’s most revered religious images. Your guide will share the fascinating story behind this statue, while you’ll witness devotees adorning it with delicate gold leaf.

    In the afternoon, transfer to the jetty for a serene boat journey to Mingun. Here, you’ll encounter the monumental unfinished Pagoda and the Mingun Bell, one of the largest hanging bronze bells in the world.

    The next stop is the stunning Hsinbyume (MyaTheinTan) Pagoda, a pristine white temple designed to resemble Mount Meru.

    As you sail back to Mandalay, transfer abc to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

  • Day 04: Mandalay – Pyin Oo Lwin – KyaukMe – Hsipaw (B)

    Embark on an early morning drive to Hsipaw (approx. 210 km, 5 hours). The road will lead us north towards China, revealing awe-inspiring landscapes of lush fields and majestic mountains.

    Upon arrival, enjoy a short walking tour of the charming town and immerse yourself in its rustic ambiance. One of the main attractions here is the bustling market, where diverse ethnic groups from Shan State gather to sell vibrant vegetables, fruits, and flowers.

    Marvel at the blend of colonial, traditional, and Chinese architecture that adorns this small yet captivating city. If available, you can visit the former residence of the last royal Shan family (please  note that the availability to visit the palace is at the discretion of the current owner).

    In the evening, transfer to the hotel for a restful overnight stay in Hsipaw.

  • Day 05: Hsipaw – Nam Tok Waterfall – Shan Village – Hsipaw (7 hours round trip) (B, L)

    Today, embark on an invigorating trekking adventure, traversing farmlands and forests. After approximately 2 hours, you will arrive at the enchanting Nam Tok waterfall. Take in the breathtaking view from the nearby viewpoint and explore the limestone cave nestled nearby.

    Resume your journey, and after another hour of walking, you will reach a Shan village, home to a picturesque pagoda surrounded by splendid scenery. Indulge in a well-deserved lunch break, savoring the breathtaking valley view.

    Return to the hotel for a restful overnight stay in Hsipaw.

  • Day 06: Hsipaw – Shan Village – Boat Trip – Hsipaw (7 hours round trip) (B, L)

    After breakfast, embark on a gentle trek through villages, paddy fields, seasonal crops, and rivers. Take a break and enjoy a delightful Shan snack and tea in a local home within a quaint village.

    Next, hop on a boat and sail upstream, immersing yourself in the stunning scenery of mountains, valleys, and plantations that adorn the riverbanks. If you desire, you can even take a refreshing swim in certain parts of the river.

    Before returning to the hotel, take a visit to a typical Shan village, offering you a glimpse into the local way of local life. Overnight in Hsipaw.

  • Day 07: Hsipaw – Pyin Oo Lwin (B)

    In the early morning, head to the train station for your magical four-hour journey aboard the Mandalay-Lashio train. This train has a fascinating history tied to black market trade with China.

    As the train chugs along, marvel at the scenic vistas of villages and bustling railway bazaars. The highlight of the journey is crossing the renowned Gokteik Viaduct, an engineering marvel constructed by the Pennsylvania Steel Company in the 1890s during Burma’s time as a part of India. The viaduct towers 300 meters above the valley floor, providing awe-inspiring views. The train will arrive at the PyinOoLwin station around 4:00 PM.

    From the station, transfer directly to the hotel for check-in and a comfortable overnight stay.

  • Day 08: Pyin Oo Lwin – Mandalay (B)

    Begin the day in the morning by heading to Mandalay jetty for an unforgettable journey along the Ayeyarwady River to Bagan. As you set sail on the local day boat, treat yourself to a freshly prepared breakfast and lunch served onboard, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the enchanting riverine experience.

    The journey will include a stop at the captivating Yandabo village, a place of historical significance. It was here, on February 24, 1826, that the Treaty of Yandabo, concluding the First Anglo-Burmese War, was signed. Explore the village and learn about its rich heritage.

    In the evening, arrive at Bagan Jetty, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel for a restful overnight stay, ready to embark on the exploration of Bagan’s wonders.

  • Day 10: Bagan (B)

    Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before immersing yourself in the vibrant local culture at the Nyaung-U market. This colorful and lively market will give you an authentic glimpse into the daily life of the Myanmar people.

    Now begin your temple exploration! The first stop is the renowned Temple of Ananda, a masterpiece of 11th-century Mon architecture. Marvel at its intricate design and spiritual ambiance.

    Next, proceed to visit the Htilominlo Temple, famous for its exquisite stucco work that adorns its walls.

    Continue the journey to the majestic Dhammayangyi Temple, an impressive pyramid-shaped structure that showcases the grandeur of Bagan’s ancient architecture.

    As the temperature rises, return to the hotel and indulge in the refreshing pool, allowing yourself to unwind and rejuvenate.

    In the afternoon, hop aboard a charming horse carriage ride, meandering through the enchanting ruins of Bagan’s temples. Visit the iconic Shwezigon Pagoda and experience the magical atmosphere of this sacred site.

  • Day 11: Bagan (B)

    Next, take a leisurely stroll through the Payathonzu Temples, and don’t miss the opportunity to visit a traditional lacquer workshop to observe the skilled artisans crafting one of Myanmar’s most beloved crafts.

    Continue to Myinkaba and visit the Gubyaukgyi Temple, also known as the “cave temple,” renowned for its exquisite jataka paintings and well-preserved bas-reliefs adorning the exterior. Nearby, discover the Manuha Temple and Nan Paya, two temples showcasing beautiful Buddha statues.

    Return to your hotel in the afternoon to escape midday’s heat and enjoy some leisure time at your own pace, indulging in the hotel’s facilities and surroundings.

    As the day draws to a close, head to the pier and embark on a breathtaking boat ride along the river, witnessing a magnificent sunset over the enchanting landscape of Bagan.
